| General Overview | Growing up the son of a Starfleet command officer wasn't easy for James. His dad, always the shining example of the behavior, expected the same. To him it seemed the only way he could get his father's attention was by getting into trouble. So that's what he did. Even though he always did well in school, earning high marks when he applied himself, he would excel only to sabotage himself down the road. |

| Service Record | 2388 to 2393 - Starfleet Academy (5 yrs) His father, now an Admiral, felt that fleet duty might shape Jim up so he got him admitted to the Academy. While at the Academy he did well at his classes, but it still took him 5 years to graduate due to the various charges faced and actions taken from the pranks he had pulled on both classmates and instructors. 2393 to 2396 - Ensign, Flight Control Officer (pilot), DS4 2394 - Promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade 2395 - Charged with Reckless endangerment while piloting others through a shipyard. Demoted to Ensign. 2396 to 2398 - USS Norfolk, Operations Officer 2398 - While escorting Zaldanian and Klingon diplomats he thought he saw an opportunity to get kicked out of Starfleet altogether. Jumping into the argument as things got heated. His attempt backfire. While initially in serious trouble the Zaldan representative praised him for his 'blunt and brutal honesty' and the Klingon Ambassador for his 'strength and fortitude in defense of his honor'. What had been an attempt at discharge ended up earning him not only a diplomatic commendation but promotion to full Lieutenant. However before his father could compliment him for seeming to have turned his life around.
