Mission: A Day In The Life
Location: Security

Rynna was making a point of meeting the other senior officers and had yet to meet the new chief of security. So, when she had the time, she headed for his office to say hello.

It had been some roller coaster ride since Hadir returned from his mission. First the Majestic was decommissioned. Then was informed that he was appointed to run Security and Tactical as well as Intelligence, which merged all those departments into one. Add to that the new ship USS Orcrist needed to be broken in. It had been a lot of work. The door chime to his office went off. He zipped his uniform jacket and for a moment thought about restoring the climate in his office but then he thought twice. "Enter."

The first thing she noticed when she entered the office was the temperature. It reminded her of some planets she visited. Hot and humid. Her gaze swept over the man behind the desk. Cardassian. That explained it. She'd never worked with a Cardassian before, but Rynna knew they preferred a warmer climate. "Hi. I'm Rynna Csira, the new head of Operations. Besides saying hi, I'd like to know if there's anything you or your department needs. Yes, this is a newer ship, but there are often little things that need to be tweaked."

"Ah yes Lieutenant please have a seat. If there is anything that I can get you please let me know. My office after all is my home. As to what is needed there is much. This is as you say a new ship. So, testing of the weapons systems, shielding, and brig systems are needed. As soon as Science finds me some asteroids that can be targeted I would need your help testing the targeting scanners." Hadir looked the woman over Cardassians could learn just about everything about a person simply by looking at her. Whatever he did not learn from body language he learned from reading her file.

Rynna sat down and nodded. "I'll be happy to help with that. I expect there will be a number of little things that will need attention as we put the ship through her paces." One of the things she liked best about operations was that it covered a lot of different things from transporters and communications to replicators and tracking systems. It was rarely dull.

"Indeed. Kind of odd if you ask me. Sending a ship out there without a proper shake down. But I am sure we will get the kinks out sooner than later. Oh..." Hadir exclaimed with a snap of his fingers. "...We are going to have to check the fighter launching systems and the deceleration shields in the fighter bay as soon as the CAG boards. We cannot leave the dock without those systems being operational. Should we have to launch, our pilots could be in trouble if one of those systems fails."

Rynn began to make a list. Three things she could easily remember, but she suspected he had a longer list of needs. Not that she disagreed with him. She didn't. She just wanted to be sure she got everything taken care of. "Okay. What else do you need?"

"Let's make sure that the systems in the SCIF are operational and operating on the correct independent systems. All data from the SCIF should be going directly to Starfleet Intelligence. Which reminds me I am going to have get you clearance for the SCIF to perform those diagnostics. I would like you personally to handle it." Hadir tapped a few commands into his computer on his desk. Within moments the Lieutenant's security clearance had been updated to include the SCIF.

She nodded. "Thanks for the clearance. I'll be happy to take care of that. Is there someone you want me to work with, or report back to you?" She had a good idea what needed to be done, but would see what he had first.

"Report back to me in regards to the SCIF. As to the tactical and security systems. Please keep Lieutenant Marsh informed. Thank you, Lieutenant your work is deeply appreciated. It is insane getting a ship running on this short notice." Hadir smiled as he spoke. He knew that very often the hard work of others went unnoticed. So, he wanted to make sure that he was not among those that would cause that.

"It is a little short, but most of the infrastructure is in place, and I'll enjoy the challenge of putting together your SCIF," she said. Rynna enjoyed the variety of jobs that came through operations and this one promised to be interesting. "I should get back to you in a week at the outside."

"Excellent. Thank you Lieutenant." The Cardassian appreciated efficiency above most other qualities. At the moment the Chief Operations was top of the class. "Well now. One good turn does deserve another. Is there anything that I can do for you?"

"Not yet. I'm still checking out the ship and making lists," Rynna replied with a smile. "But if--when--that changes, I'll definitely let you know. I'll send you a message when I get intel set up so you can go through everything to make sure it's set up the way you want."

"Sounds like a plan, Lieutenant." Hadir said with a Cardassian trademark smile. "You know one simply must admire efficiency. There is not enough of that to go around if you ask me."

Rynna laughed. "Indeed. There is definitely something to be said for efficiency--and ingenuity. If there's nothing else, I'll start putting together some ideas and see what I come up with."

"Yes of course, Lieutenant. Thank you for stopping in." Hadir said as a less formal way of dismissal. There was quite a lot to do on the Orcrist. However, there was always time to make some friends. That was something Hadir knew well, as he had few friends.

Rynna nodded. "See you later, commander." Setting up the intelligence area looked to be a fun challenge.
