Mini Mission-Adjustments [USS Orcrist]
Location: USS Orcrist
Timeline: Before the Orcrist leaves Earth
It was a new ship, a perhaps a new start for her life. Well maybe, who knows how long she will stay here, or will the captain of the ship will just send her away. The woman looked towards the ship where she was assigned to. USS Orcrist, a name from Tolkien. She was familiar with the author, and had spent pleasant hours reading the books.
Her name was Marjani Smith, 1st Lieutenant, a marine. A look at the manifest, gave her pause. No no no, he is there! How can this be?
Another name popped up which caught her pleasantly by surprise, it was Sorcerous!! Marjani smiled, she was looking forward to seeing her friend.
She took in a deep breath, she had to report, not only did Pappy tell her to go, so did one of the higher ups as well.Trouble was waiting for her, and she couldn't back out of this, squaring her shoulders she stepped onto the deck of the ship.
She was challenged by the security officer, who was checking everyone's credentials. They seemed to be rather meticulous as to making sure who they really were.
This included checking to see of all things that a person wasn't a founder, a changeling. The captain must be dealing with security difficulties or just there was something that was security sensitive that they wished to keep quiet about.
As she went down the corridor, Marjani utilized the follow me, to get to her quarters. Marjani wanted to get her gear stored, there wasn't much, some photos of her family. Those in New Orleans and those of the squadron that Pappy had formed.
By this time there weas a new addition to said family one of her former crew, the baby was born. Cutest thing that Marjani had ever seen. She had to smile, she had been made an Aunt, an Aunt!
A brief hug of herself, Marjani got her gear put in place. Then looked about at where she was quartered. it was simple, clean and something she'll be able to maintain. She sent off a message to her parents.
Their images came into view.
"Hi mom and dad, well I made it. I haven't reported into the person who I wil b e working with. Not much is said about him, but he's a marine like I am. I wonder what his story will be or even if he will work with me. Still, hopefully this will be a good change for me."
Her parents looked at her with love in their eyes.
Her dad, Abe Smith spoke first his voice warm and tender. "Well my daughter, I do hope that you'll find what you've been seeking. You've been through a bit, and hopefully you'll find home. Besides here. I do know that your family here is rooting for you. And you can always come back here."
Marjani wiped away the tears that began to fall down her cheeks.
"I know that I can, I just still feel there is something out there amongst the stars for me. And hopefully that is true. And Pappy didn't let me say no or back out of it." Marjani giving a watery chuckle.
She saw her mother reach out and touch her husband's shoulder, he gave a nod and then said.
"Well Marjani, your mother wants to speak to you privately, I will leave you to it. Just remember we are here for youi, my precious daughter, and my favorite daughter.:" giving a cheeky smile. Abe said.
Marjsni laughed. "Daddy, you know I am your only daughter and only child. I love you."
Sending a kiss towards Marjani, Abe disappeared from view leaving her mother there.
"Hello my darling little bird. my little piece of coral. I know you've had some trials where love is concerned." Maria comment softly. "Don't deny it, I know the signs. Even though you said nothing. Not even your aunt."
Marjani's cheeks warmed when she heard this from her mother.
"I am sorry I've not said much." she began but her mother raised a hand with a gentle smile.
"It is alright, you eventually talk to me." a fond and loving smile from Maria gave Marjani peace.
"Do not wait too long to tell me all about it." Maria added.
Marjani gave a nod. " I will converse with you once I report in to those who are in command. I am worried though, I don't know if they will talk to me, let alone work with me. We shall soon see."
"Mon tréso, mon ange ( my treasure, my angel) Whatever happens, you will be able to rise to the occasion and meet it head on." Maria's eyes beginning to water. "I have faith and hope for you."
Marjani gave a nod, her own tears falling down her cheek. She loved her mother very much
" I will get back into touch with you soon. Love you, mama." Marjani kissing her hand and sending it towards her mother.
Maria caught it, and pulled it close to her heart. I love you too." then the screen went dark.
Marjani wiped the tears from her face, now it was time to go seek out a man namedvCaptain Johnathon Hayter.
