Crystal Stasis - Part I

Posted on Wed Dec 31st, 2025 @ 9:43pm by Lieutenant Lily Marlow & Lieutenant Commander Rafael Montoya & Lieutenant Rynna Csira

1,428 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: A Day In The Life
Location: Medical lab Two

The alien stasis chamber had been set off to one side on the medical level in one of the labs. A soft light shone down upon it, illuminating the surface it being that of translucent crystal and metal, closely resembling the sarcophagus that Snow White had been placed in by the Dwarves in the animated feature.

There was a monitor, which was quiet as three wasn't anyone set inside. Lily had stepped inside the lab, to look at it once more. At the request of her, Elijah had kept this particular item upon the ship, instead of it being sent down to the Science Department on Earth. There was a mystery to be solved with it. She had witnessed T'seng in the sarcophagus, and her connecting with part of the closed system to awaken Aurora to send the photonics to their home.

Now though where did this come from, and was it from an offshoot of the El-Arians? Perhaps its origin could be determined or even figure out just how it worked.

Still though she wanted it to be examined by others.

Tapping on her combadge she sent out a call to Raf and Rynna.

"Commander Montoya and Lieutenant Csira would you come to Medical Lab One, please? This is Lieutenant Lily Marlow."

Rynna was going over ship status reports in her office when she got the message. "On my way." She could use a break right now, and she was curious as to why Lily wanted to see her. She saved her report and secured her computer before heading to the medical lab.

[Sickbay]

Raf looked at the young lady on the biobed as he completed his scan. Glancing at his tricorder he smiled and nodded to her and the young man standing next to her. Tapping, his combadge, "I will be there momentarily, Montoya out."

Looking back to the couple he grinned again. "Congratulations...", he continued as the pair hugged each other. You two both come back her when you get off duty. I will have a prenatal package for you."

They both were still grinning ear to ear and replied. "Thank you." "Thank you Sir".

Handing the tricorder off to the nurse who was waiting to congratulate her friends. "Did you want me to get that prenatal pack for them Doctor?"

"No cross-species pregnancies can be tricky, and here we have a three way mix. I want to review a few things first before putting the plan together." Looking back to the glowing couple, "I will see you two this evening. Again congratulations."

[Med lab 2]

As the door hissed to the side, "What ya got, Lily?"

The door opened a moment later and Ryn entered in time to hear what the doctor asked. Since she had the same question, she simply raised an eyebrow and waited for what Lily had to say.

"Hello, well, I have an item that is medical in nature. It’s a stasis chamber, as far as I know, but it’s something I've not come across before. It has a little bit of interesting history, one of our diplomatic officers, Lieutenant T'seng, had been in it for ten years. Until she had been found by some of the crew on Adna Station. The chamber was being guarded by Rystix, and it had been connected to him, Rystix is a metallic construct that looks like a copper dragon."

"A stasis chamber?" Rynna asked, her curiosity piqued. "Guarded by a dragon construct? That's fascinating." She had so many questions she wasn't sure where to start.

Raf stepped up and looked over the pod peering into the chamber. Looking up to Lilly. So, what's the issue? When did the pod come aboard?"

"It’s not an issue per se it is more of, how does it work? And who made it? As for the question of when did the pod come aboard it came onboard on the Majestic, with T'seng inside it. She had been communicating to us, when we were on Adna Station. And I had it transferred to here from the Majestic. I umm pulled some strings in order to bring this to the Orcrist." Lily giving a bit of wry smile.

Raf looked up from the pod, "T'seng couldn't provide any information on who made it or put her in it?"

"And you want us to find the answers?" Rynna added. That was perfect. She loved puzzles and looking for answers. She looked over at Raf, then back to Lily and smiled.

Lily looked at Raf, "She wasn't able to provide any of that information. And all that I know about this is it kept her alive, until such time we found her."

Turning her attention to Rynna, "I truly don't quite know how it works and could there be some information hidden in the programming of this to tell us who made it."

Raf brushed over his beard, something didn't add up. Unless she whoever put her in this chamber were completely unknown to her and she was unconscious when it was activated. Shrugging his doubt off as its former occupant was now a member of the crew and his concerns had probably already been addressed.

"Has engineering look it over yet to see it still works?"

"I was witness to it working, In order to help get a holoprogram to get the map to a planet populated by photonic entities, T'seng needed to get back into the stasis pod to untangle the beacon." Lily answered.

Rynna had walked around the coffin to see if from all angles. Then she squatted down to have a closer look. "May I scan it?" she asked Lily. She wasn't sure if it had been scanned, but she wanted to get some readings and, if possible, compare them to what was on record.

"Yes you may, I hadn't thought of getting it scanned previously. Who knows what can be found out. " Lily being apologetic about this. "There has been a lot happening between now and back then."

Nodding her thanks, Ryn took out her tricorder and carefully scanned the coffin. At first she got nothing as the tricorder seemed to bounce off the crystalline structure. But then she dropped to her knees and began to scan the underside, followed by the inside. That was far more interesting. "Raf, have a look at these readings." She sent a copy of them to him to look over.

The readings were of such as if the stasis chamber were waiting for something or even someone. A language could be seen upon the underbelly of the chamber. When Ryn had gone in to gain a reading, her presence had activated some of the sensors, which brought up Ryn's vitals

Lily gasped as a light lit up where an outline of sensors, a pattern shaped like a body with different circles "Okay, I hadn't noticed this before when T'seng was inside. I had been more concentrated upon saving her life. And when she helped to activate the beacon for the holograms to go home-I hadn't noticed either."

"Don't touch anything! You said this was a stasis pod...we don't want this thing to activate and turn Ryn into Snow White or something." Raf compared the reading from the pod, it's diagram of Ryn's body and the various overlayed circle to his monitoring of Ryn herself there were similarities.

Pointing to the alien display starting at her head and working his way down, "These seem to be Ryn's vital signs. The pod is displaying her vitals...extremely accurately too. This set of circles seem to neurological. This set would be heart beat and respiration."

Moving to another set, "While ...these ...these". Looking back to his tricorders and focused the scan. "Oh, never mind..."

Ryn was briefly distracted by the thought of herself as Snow White and Raf as the prince, but she forced herself to stay on task. She was careful not to touch the stasis chamber as she continued to scan it in order to get as much information as possible.

The operations chief was fascinated with the language and the readings. She also wanted to find out why it was monitoring her. Proximity was the likely reason, but was there more to it than that? "Let me know if any of the readings change." Then she moved to get a better angle to look at the underside of the stasis chamber.
