Outing with Tara Part II

2,197 words; about a 11 minute read

Mission: Mini Mission-Adjustments [USS Orcrist]
Location: Florence, Oregon
Timeline: MD 02

"Okay, a little bit ago, months ago I found out that someone had tampered with my memories, and I had been followed for some reason. Details were fuzzy, memories of Annabelle were buried. It's a big mess up in my mind." Lily tapped on her temple. "It's getting sorted now. As it stands someone thinks I know something about somebody, especially my friend Annabelle, who I have come to find out is alive instead of being dead for all these years. This is the mess that I seem to have pulled you into. This, though, has to be taken care of on a timeline and definitely away from my family. And I am the bait."

And now the conclusion

"OK, bait," Tara replied with a wicked grin. "Then I'll be the hook. You're not going anywhere or doing anything without my supervision. I'm not leaving you alone, and that's final. What's so important about this Annabelle? What can you tell me about her and why do you think Mister Sleaze over there has anything to do with any of this?"

"Because of Annabelle's fiance. The pieces are slowly fitting together, and I'm now thinking that Eric is or has been in intelligence. And on top of that, I think he's working for a faction of Romulans. I just-" she gave a sigh, "I would like to get the answers and get all the pieces put together in my head. Hadir has been the one who I have really depended on unraveling this mystery. And seeing Eric, may have moved the timetable up." Lily rubbing her temple at this turn of events.

"I am glad that you came with me, I don't quite know what I would have done if you weren't here." Lily placed a hand upon Tara's shoulder. "Just I am thinking you might now have a target on your back with your association with me."

"Eric? In intelligence?" Tara laughed at the thought of that. "He could not rub two sticks together and get friction!" She then asked, "What would Anabelle's fiancé' have anything to do with anything? I have to admit that I'm a bit confused but I'll follow along eventually. Just don't worry about me. I'm more than capable of taking care of myself."

Lily gave a laugh. "There is more to Eric than meets the eye, just that he's not realized that the cards are stacked against him. He used to hold the cards but now--" a conspiratorial gleam in her eyes appeared. "Now when the time is right, we will find out in some part who he's been working with." She rubbed her hands together. "More will come out later. We can't let him get suspicious, can we? Let's go surf!"

"Alright," Tara conceded, wrinkling her nose. She wondered what she could do to find out more without blowing things. Part of her wondered if seducing Eric would do anything. Then again, she was not much of a seductress and she was pretty certain he really only wanted Lily for some reason. Even so, Eeewww!

An hour later, all were on the surfboards. Lily had given Tara some pointers as to how to get upon the boards.

Eric tried to come help, but he was dragged off by Llly's brothers.

"Eric c'mon, don't get in the way of surf lessons. You won't like the results from any of the three."

"Or four." Lily whispered to Tara.

Erik gave a sigh and went with the brothers.

Tara whispered back to Lily, "Are you sure that I can't hurt him?"

Lily gave out a snort, "Not yet, but there will be a time." She paused.

"I shouldn't be talking like this, I have been told that Doctors shouldn't hurt anyone. There are exceptions to the rules, right?"

Looking towards Tara, Olivia and Maddy.

"If you are under attack, it is okay to do injuries. Just don't kill him, especially not with kindness. Never again." Olivia remarked.

Lily looked at Tara. "So ready to go out further, into the water?"

"I was born ready! Let's go conquer the waves!" Tara exuded.

Out on the waves, Lily enjoyed riding on the board, the wind whipping through her hair. She enjoyed the spray from the ocean hitting her face. As she balanced, she noticed the approach of Erik making his way towards her.

The moment that Tara saw Erik was heading towards Lily, Tara tried to direct her surfboard towards him. While balance on a board was not particularly difficult for her, forcing a board along a wave that was going in one direction when she wanted to head perpendicular to it was not particularly easy. She yelled at the wave, "Come on wave, get me there!"

Lily angled her board to where she couid get distance from Erik. She did send a teasing smile towards him, giving a kiss to her hand and sending it towards him, then gave a wave.

Erik laughed, as this was a game he and Lily had played years ago. To him she was more desirable than back then. There was a more mature charm about her. The angle he took would cross paths with that woman, Tara. With a careful calculation he'd be able to avoid her and reach his goal, Lily.

Tara saw that Erik was about to cross her path. She cackled loudly before feigning fear and screaming at Erik, "WATCH OUT!" With what little grace she had, she purposely allowed her board to crash into Erik's as she more than helped the collision to force him into the water with a large sploosh! With some difficulty after the collision, Tara managed to right herself and continue surfing on a surfboard. Whether it was hers or Erik's, she wasn't certain, but she was going to continue on whatever board she was on until she reached shore. In the meantime, she'd hope that Erik drank about half the ocean and got sick off of it. She couldn't let him drown but that did not mean that she couldn't make him feel absolutely miserable.

Erik was caught by surprise by Tara's mishap on her surfboard, knocking him off the board. He disappeared beneath the waves, while Lily made it all the way to the shore. So did the riderless surfboard, drifting towards the shore.

"Dang what a wipeout!" the brothers exclaimed when they reached the shore as well.

Olivia and Maddy, held one hand over their eyes, to see where Erik could be. There was a slight feeling of worry, Lily getting prepped to go look for him.

As she approached the end of the beach with the water licking her toes, a head popped up from the surface and Erik made his way to shore. When he reached solid ground, he collapsed on all four and retched up the water he had swallowed, looking a bit green around the gills.

Lily being the doctor that she was, went over to check on Erik. Putting a gentle hand upon his shoulder as if in comfort.

Erik moved to sit upon the sand to catch his breath coughing from the water he had inhaled.

"What do you think about ending the day? I don't think that Erik is up to finish going surfing." Lily stated firmly.

Erik opened up his mouth to protest then stifled it when he saw a look in her eyes.

"Don't argue with a doctor, okay?" Lily remarked in a matter-of-fact tone.

Erik nodded.

He was finding her rather hot, with her take charge aspect.

Lily's brothers had come to check him out. "Let's get you back to the house and you can get cleaned up there."

Lily gave a nod and they started heading on their way.

"We'll take care of the surfboards."

The brothers gave a departing wave as the accompanied Erik back to the house.

The moment that Erik and the brothers were out of earshot, Tara started snickering. The longer her snickering went on, the more that it started turning into raucous laughter.

Lily looked over at Tara, noting the snicker and then the laughing.

Oliva and Maddy were looking at Tara having a huge grin and began to laugh as well.

"That was fantastic and loved the move of riding back on Erik's board," Olivia remarked through her giggles.

Maddy nodded in agreement. "He thought he would be so cool pulling that maneuver."

Lily shook her head laughing as well. "That was an awesome move, Tara. How do you feel about your accomplishment?" walking over and giving Tara a high five.

"I feel rather proud," Tara admitted. "I was not sure that I could get the board there, but somehow the wave graced me. Was my acting sufficient? Did I make the entire thing look accidental enough? And look! I didn't kill him, just made him seasick!" The Security Officer beamed with pride.

"Just so you all know, if I didn't see him pop up soon, I would have swam and got his sorry butt out of the ocean." She rolled her eyes, thankful that she did not have to do that. "I was starting to get slightly concerned that I would have to do that. Worse, he might have been grateful and kissed me or some disgusting thing like that."

Lily's eyes went wide, "Oh... uh yeah lucky he is a good swimmer. If I had to get him I would have had to have done mouth to mount." she shuddered. "I don't know what I saw in him except as memory serves me somewhat well, I found him rather charming and attentive. I had thought he was going to ask me to marry him. I feel like I had dodged a bullet."

"You did. Trust me. My spider sense is never wrong," Tara insisted. "Blech! Well, I'm just glad that neither of our oaths forced us into that uncomfortable position."

"I agree," Lily said thoughtfully. "You know I don't want to go back to the house while Erik is there. I don't know if I can pull off fake lovey dovey with Erik, not now, anyway. I think I need to apprise Hadir as to what has happened, and to figure out how the next step. " She heaved a sigh.

"I'm sorry," Tara apologized. "This is my fault."

Lily speared Tara with a rather intense gaze. "Tara, this isn't your fault. You didn't invite Erik, you didn't know that Erik would be here. No, instead, you helped me out extensively. " She gave Tara a relieved, warm smile appear.

She put an arm around Tara.

"What I had meant was that I need to let Hadir know that Erik had come into contact with my family. Not that there was a true time table set. Just that I had hoped that I'd not have to set the trap so soon. Maybe though it can happen at a later date to bring him in for questioning, and pick his brain as to who he is working for. You helped a lot. And you can actually give Hadir your opinioin as to Erik."

"Oh, I'll be happy to give him my opinion," Tara answered. "He should take a long space walk without a tether."

Lily gave a laugh, "I can see you doing that. Anyhow, its time to have girls night out and have some fun. Let's leave the guys to deal with Erik, sound good? We can get us some new clothing. Let's go have some fun!!"

"I'm all for fun, but why the new clothing?" Tara asked.

"Well, I didn't think to mention bringing some other clothing to change into, so new clothing. And I don't want to go back to the ship and it would be lovely to not go back home until Erik is gone." Lily reamarked, with a firm nod.

Olivia nodded, "I would love to do some shopping as well."

"Me too." Maddy nodding in agreement with this.

Tara really was not certain what to do about shopping. It was really not in her skill set. However, she was not anxious to leave Lily in any situation where she would have a small chance of seeing Erik again. "OK, sure."

"And once Erik has hopefully left I can go visit Mom and Dad. For now its time for getting clothing, and going out for drinks and having dinner." Lily gave a high-five to each of the girls.

High fives and having dinner was definitely much more up Tara's alley. However, dressing for it could be an issue. "Sounds like a good time. Can anyone help me tidy up and replicate an appropriate outfit?"

"Oh don't worry and as for replcating clothing? We're taking you to someplace where we can help you pick out clothing for you to wear. Don't worry we've got you covered on this." Maddy, and Olivia chimed in.

"Okay let's go!" Lily exclaimed.

Tara's eyes grew big. Non-replicated clothing? How many credits did that take? She just prayed she would not have to wear heels.
