A Day In The Life
Location: Medical, USS Orcrist
ON:
There was a flurry of activity in sickbay, two medics came in, on either side of Lily,. They were looking around for someone then their eyes landed on Cade.
"Sir, we've got a patient here to be seen to." gently but firmly moving Lily towards a bio-bed.
Lily was a little bit put out, "I said I could make my way on my own." she grumped. The normally unflappable ACMO wasn't in a good mood.
Then again, who could be in a happy mood, when clonked on the head and stuffed in a closet.
Cade looked up from the medical journals he was sifting through as the nurses appeared with Lily in tow. His otherwise quiet medical bay was disrupted and he looked mildly at Lily and said, "Right. Let's get a look." Gesturing toward the bio-bed he said. "Clothing is, as always, optional. Now, what seems to be the problem?"
The nurses very calmly and quietly pulled the privacy curtain around both Lily and Cade, vacating the araa. They were not used to seeing Lily grouchy. She normally kept her cool and was pleasant.
Lily just stared at Cade, "Do you usually greet patients with what you just said?"
"Of course," Cade said good-naturedly. "I treat everyone the same and want my patients to be as comfortable as possible. It's part of my charm." He pulled up a stool and propped himself on it while the computer scanned her from where Lilly stood. "It is up to you of course, but if you could tell me what happened, that's a good place to start."
Lily was holding herself together by sheer willpower. It was slipping though. She could tell, from her being grouchy to just being snippy.
"I was knocked out, apparently tied up and stuffed in a supply closet. I was found by Shailyn, who is part of the engineering staff.
It started small, Lily could see the adrenaline receding, causing her hands start to tremble. She had barely enough reserves to get upon the bio-bed, before the adrenaline crashed. Her stomach roiling.
"I think I'm going to throw up." Lily gasped out.
"That's fine," Cade said stepping up now that she was complying. He got a look at the readings and gestured toward to one of the poorly hidden nurses and said, "Fairly bad concussion, but so far no sign of a brain bleed.
Administer fifteen milligrams of Crylosiclicane and lets get her on a saline drip. She's dehydrated."
Looking at Lilly, he said, "Easy now. We've got you. As you probably heard, you have a bad concussion. Your respiratory system indicates that you were in some sort of confined space so we'll get you into an oxygen rich cloud for a few hours." He put a hand on he shoulder to reassure her and brought more of the bed's scanners online.
"I see a few contusions and abrasions. Anything else hurting, Lily?", he asked quietly while the nurses moved around the bed, tending to her.
"Honestly, I think a hospital gown would be, rather lovely." Lily responded,
She felt that there were some other areas, that probably needed to be looked at, besides being scanned.
Whoever had put her in that closet, wasn't gentle.
Raw patches on her wrist along with her ankle.
As what Shailyn had stated she had been trussed up like a thanksgiving turkey.
Putting the back of his hand on her forehead for a few seconds, then taking her by the wrist to manually take her pulse, Cade made sure the bio-readouts were giving him the same information. Smiling into Lily's eyes he said, "We'll take good care of you. If you would like to get more comfortable, we can get you a hospital wrap. Do you feel up to changing or would you like to experience me...and the nurses of course cutting you out of your uniform?"
His eyes glinted with humor, keeping his tone light and positive.
She saw the humor in his eyes, gave a quiet smile.
Moving to take her tunic off, Lily grimaced, she felt pain in her shoulders, and she was worried about this. Part of her being a doctor was being able to massages along with Ashiatsu, massaging with her feet.
"It looks like my uniform is going to have to be removed by the tender ministrations of the staff and you. " she looked at her uniform, which was smudged, torn in a few places.
"And tomorrow I am going to really feel this. I hope that they caught the person who knocked me out."
Cade gestured for the nurses, who moved up to assist Lily while he reviewed the data that was coming in from the scans. He watched clinically making notes on the PADD then said,"We'll keep you overnight for observation, but a couple rounds with the dermal regenerator and a smoothie with calcium enrichment and bone knit. What flavors do you like."
He watched as one of the nurses held up a hospital smock with a bright yellow duck on it for Lily to slip into.
Lily was now out of her dirty and ripped uniform. She had to chuckle seeing the hospital smock which had a duck on it.
"Where is the other duck and even the goose." Lily grinning, then winced. "Okay, note to self, no huge smiles" reaching back to gingerly feeling the lower part of her skull.
"I am on duty," Cade said straight faced. "So any goosing will have to be considered, discussed and processed much later. The other duck, I'm not sure. We may have to alert security." Smiling, he heard her settle and turned back. "We'll also encorporate oxygen therapy," he said as he enabled a bubble field around the bio-bed and upped the oxygen enrichment. After some rest, that smoothy I mentioned and the dermal treatment, you should be more or less good as new by start of day watch tomorrow...which," he said, consulting her file. "I'm going to ammend duty rotations. You get tomorrow off. You don't have to be here after you wake up in day watch, just take it easy through tomorrow so the bone-knit and dermal treatments set right."
The nurses bustled off to attend to other matters and Cade stepped back from the bubble field that was surrounding her and pulled up a stool. "Since I'm satisfied that you are not going to perish, your feet firmly on the path to recovery, tell me about what happened? You were hiding in a cupboard someplace and got wacked and tied up? Or did that happen in reverse order. I've had dates like that," he finished with a murmer and smile.
Her eyebrows raised at what Cade had said, started to laugh then winced once more.
"Cade, you are one dangerous man. I am really trying not to laugh as it is painful." She drew in a breath.
"Actually what happened was, I saw the stasis chamber being taken out of the lab, where it had been. By one of the medical staff from the Majestic, Giselle, I asked her what she was doing with the stasis chamber and the last thing I remember was a sharp pain. Then I woke up, being stared at by Shailyn and me not being able to move or speak. That isn't something I'd recommend anyone doing for fun."
The bubble settling around her, Lily relaxed against the slighly inclined, bio bed. "I really hate this, but I promise not to be a bear."
