Last Time On Pre-launch Party II

Throwing a leg over the seat, setting his drink on the table. Raf grinned at her invitation, "That sounds like a great idea," adding with a broad smile, "though you might wanna wait until you hear me before you decide for sure."

"I have a feeling you'll do very well," she replied, smiling back. "So I am prepared to be properly impressed."

"Well I hope not to disappoint." Seeing another member of the crew come up to the mic Raf turned to watch.

And now the continuation

After a couple of brandies, Cade decided he had enough liquid courage in him that when his set came up, he looked forward to it. Gulping back the last of the amber liquid, he retrieved his harp-guitar and wove his way through the gathered crew. At the stage, Cade pulled a stool up and half sat while he tuned the instrument, then he said "Nice to see everyone. I'm counselor Cadence and just so you know, my mother insisted I learn to play, so this is for her.

Resettling the instrument, he worked his way through The Scarborough Fair, fumbling slightly more than once as his fingers sought to remember lessons long past.

Rynna and Vanya applauded appreciatively, along with others in the crowd. Ryn loved that song, and Cade did a great job with it.

Standing, "Well I guess I'm up." Retrieving his guitar he grabbed a stool hooking a heel of his boot on the lower rung. After lowering the mic a bit and bringing the strap of his guitar over his head, he introduced himself.

"Evening everyone. For those who haven't been by sickbay I am Rafael Montoya..." giving his guitar as strum, "...your Chief Medical Officer. "Now to get the proper effect...computer disable universal translators in this room for the next four minutes. This is Amor Eterno."

Finding his initial fingering he began to play, closing his eyes, he started in a low sultry tone for the opening verse, only to belt out the refrain. At the end his voice trailed off as he reopened his eyes playing the final bar.

Rynna watched Raf play. She didn't understand the language, but it didn't keep her from knowing she was in trouble. "Wow." Then she applauded with everyone else.

Vanya looked at Ryn and smirked, then turned her attention back to the stage and joined the applause.

Smiling he bowed his head in appreciation before returning his guitar to the stand. Stepping off the stage he returned the table, downing the last his drink. "Ahhh...So, did I pass?"

"Yes. You definitely passed." Ryn smiled. "I didn't understand the words, but I loved the performance. Turning off the UT was a great idea."

"Thank you. The translated version just doesn't sound right, but I can get you a translation some time if you like?"

"Maybe just the lyrics so I know what the song says. I think most songs sound best in their native language," Ryn replied.

Turning towards the bar holding up his empty glass before he replied. "Consider it done. But where are my manners," turning to Ryn's companion. "I know you heard the intro on stage but," offering her his hand, Commander Montoya, but when the situation allows...Raf is fine."

She shook his hand. "Vanya. Vanya Karolyi. I'm a data systems analyst and archivist." She grinned at Ryn. "And a violinist. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you Vanya. I saw you play earlier..." looking back and for between them, "...perhaps we could but a little group together?"

"Sure." Vanya didn't have to look at Ryn to know she'd agree. "We've done a couple of numbers with Laural, but I would love to see how the three--or four--of us can work together."

Ryn nodded. "Vanya and I both enjoy improvising. Besides, there are a lot of songs that just sound better with a good male lead."

As a waiter brought over another drink he took a sip as Ryn spoke. When she was done, "Sounds like a plan. Well we can see what other talent shows tonight. Maybe we can put a nice little band together?"

"Yes. I think that sounds like fun," Ryn replied.

"Great! Well I will see you ladies later. I want to do a little mingling. Sorta let the crew get to know me before they have to get to know me." He rose passing behind Ryn giving her a pat on her shoulder. "Let me know when we are getting the band together."

Ryn smiled up at him. "I will. See you later."

Griffin a transplant from the USS Majestic served drinks both synthehol and the real stuff. His dark eyes watched, gave a gruff answer of acknowledgement asking in his gravelly voice.

"What's your drink?" or "What's your poison or what's your potion."

Camelia came in to where the party was, her vivid green eyes, scanning around the lounge looking to see who was there. It was quite the gathering, intermixing of people both Fleet, and different ranks. This though seemed to be a rankless gathering, no one was dressed in uniform.

She noted Ryn and Vanya in close proximity of each other, apparently there had been some music playing. She missed it though. She'd been talking with her brother, Stefan.

Sliding up on the barstool, at the end of the bar, she greeted Griffin. "Hey there Griffin, could you get me my non alcoholic drink? Sparkling Raspberry lemonade"

Griffin nodded. "On the rocks?"

Camelia nodded. "Yes please."

The burly man got that ready and gave Camelia her drink.

"Thanks, appreciate this." Camelia taking a sip then giving a smile.

She noted that there were those who were dressed rather nicely, definitely in their civvies. Her own outfit was just something simple. Dark red blouse with a ruffled black skirt and matching heels. Her hair was caught beck with a small clip, the same color as her blouse.

As she sipped at her drink, she noticed that Lily the one she was told to keep an eye on was quietly seated to where she could watch but not be observed. Camelia noticed her.

Then there was the vivacious redhead, Rose was her name, she just stepped inside the Prancing Pony. Just a scant few minutes, after her, the captain stepped inside with his wife, Jasmine.

Camelia took a sip of her drink, her eyes followed the couple, until they separated. Jasmine heading towards where Lily was seated. Rutherford went to speak with the XO.

The door opened once more, and in stepped T'seng, wearing an emerald green dress with leafy trim along the sleeves. The green of the dress enhanced the green hue of her eyes, Her pointed ears made her seem to fit rather well inside the Prancing Pony. The dress seemed to be made of silk, it moving as she moved. In her golden tresses was a 'crown of flowers'.

Around her wrist was a gold bracelet set with green stones which shimmered in the light of the lounge. T'seng stood there for a moment or two, before she stepped further inside.

Camelia gave one more scan of the place she noticed someone who had been seated not too far. Camelia lifted her glass towards him. (Sebastian) in a silent salute.

Sebastian had turned his head toward her at the same time she had looked at him and made the same gesture of lifting his glass but also added polite smile. He didn't want to make any first moves by going and striking up a conversation, especially if it came across the wrong way and it ruined her night, but at the same time he'd also appreciate the conversation if she walked up to him first.

Raf had moved through the lounge speaking with several people, moving from cluster to cluster. He knew from experience that pilots and security types tended to be a tight group that worked and played together and for the most part those on the Orcrist were now different. It was also true that they tended to be the ones to get injured the most, other than engineers, so he made sure to try to make inroads into their circles.

Security types were easy enough to get the door to opened simply by looking for a sparing partner. Pilots on the other hand were a different breed altogether. That group merely made sure they knew he was there for them whenever needed. Sometimes support work better that trying to ingratiating one self.

Working his way back to the bar Raf ordered a whiskey sour as he scanned the crowd.
